The Ethel Hedgeman Lyle Foundation of Texas exists to support the charitable programs of the Omicron Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (AKA) is America’s first Greek letter organization established by African American women in 1908. With a commitment to servicing the north Houston communities, the Omicron Tau Omega Chapter of AKA was founded in Spring, Texas in 1985 with a commitment to scholarship, civic engagement and public service. With over three decades of service, Omicron Tau Omega and the Ethel Hedgeman Lyle Foundation of Spring Texas members have engaged in charitable programs to cultivate and encourage high scholastic achievement through annual scholarship awards to graduating high school seniors, promote civic engagement, and improve quality of life in underserved communities.
